Learn the fundamentals of portraiture including correct proportions, anatomy of the face, achieving a likeness, theory of colour, value, and shapes, working from photographs as well as from a live model.

Over the course of ten Thursday evenings, Ewan and Lea offer their insights into the practical aspects of portraiture as well as capturing mood and expression of the subject. You will be working from the same model in the same pose over ten weeks, going step by step, from start to finish.

Sessions will include demonstrations, individual critiques and guidance, and theoretical discussion.

Ewan and Lea have been senior instructors at Edinburgh Atelier of Fine Art for over a decade, and in that time they have taught workshops at home and internationally and are highly regarded for their friendly personable approach to teaching.

All levels of experience welcome, and all materials will be provided, although feel free to bring your own materials with you.
